Transfer Application & Aftercare
With our tried and true DTF transfer film and All American ink, we at Matoko aim for quality that lasts. To ensure this, we recommend following our suggested application and aftercare instructions as listed on the Care Card included in your order or as listed below:
Application:
Please note our transfers currently only work with a heat press. A standard household iron will NOT work.
- Iron and lint roll the garment you plan on pressing for a clean and even surface. Ensure the fabric is capable of withstanding 300°F-320°F.
- Ensure your heat press has reached the recommended 300°F-320°F. Please note this will vary depending on your fabric and heat press. Adjust accordingly.
- With firm pressure, press design face up on garment for around 12 seconds. Again, adjust as needed.
- Remove from press and wait a few seconds. Peel while warm.
- For a more natural textile feel, flip garment inside out and press again with the same settings then pat fabric against design so it picks up the texture. DTF has memory!
- Enjoy your new wearable art!
Aftercare:
No transfer is invincible. Here's some tips to increase the longevity of your matoko design.
- Flip garment inside out, ensuring the design is on the inside.
- Wash with cold water to prevent cracking and peeling.
- Air dry/hang dry garment. Heat is the enemy of DTF!
- Be gentle with garment. Wash only as necessary and avoid picking or chipping at design as this will lessen its integrity over time.
